Don Beekeeper has a new song. This very proper for the New Year me thinks. It’s happy and playful. But knowing singer/songwriter as an artist, I can always detect an underlying sarcasm and wit in all his entries. Albums like Slave and Wednesday Morning Tambourine sound like they came right out of his soul. They’re testaments on how he’s exorcising his inner demons. These things linger. The rage, the indignation at the atrocities of life don’t leave us. But they get channeled into other forms. Like poetry. It is true that something beautiful can really come from something sad. But then again maybe I’m just reading too much between the lines.
