Album Review: Jay Jacobson – The Ride

Description: “The Ride” features a mixture of pop ballads, melodies and bouncy dance tracks.

This is the first time I have heard of his music. But Jay Jacobson proves to be an artist who can make a memorable impression.  All I know is that The Ride is his fifth studio album. He is a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles.artworks-000088192432-krkffo-t500x500

His music is filled under electronic pop. But there is more to the label. There are classical influences as well as soaring vocals. He has an amazing tenor voice that glides between melodies. I love his style of singing.

“I wanted to write about the acceptance of life, with all its bumps and wrinkles included”. I read that from the press release. You can read all about him by visiting this link: http://www.pitchengine.com/pitches/02267e45-5b93-471a-a74b-8edb8686730c

Square Peg is my favorite because of its near-operatic arrangement. All the piano parts are beautifully rendered that they sound magical! Another favorite is Animal because of its beat and the orchestral sound. But I Need Change is cleverly place as the album’s opener because it really reflects the whole style of the album.

Overall, I enjoyed this album and I describe it as partly operatic, hymn, dance, and poignant ballads wrapped in pop sheets. The lyrics are all positive and there are also sad songs but the overall effect is uplifting. There is no track that sags here as they sound all artfully crafted so no complains whatsoever.

If you are new to the music of Jay Jacobson they you better pick this recording and the rest of his albums because I am sure you will love his kind of music!

The Ride will be released on October 14th, 2014
