James Bullard- One Man Show

James Bullard has a new beautiful song called One Man Show

Occasionally, a singer/songwriter arrives in the indie scene which makes you wish you can sing and write songs like that. One Man Show is his latest upload via soundcloud. It’s a dreamy upbeat ballad which modern Beat poets will really embrace. I love the way he makes complex songs sound really simple. He has a knack for catchy melodies that never leave you. As of this moment, I have played the same song twice and I am planning to play it again and again until I finish writing this post.iphone360_232807

He first broke into prominence as an actor in Ken Park. Instead of pursuing an acting career like his contemporaries, he decided to pack his guitar and pursued a musical career playing across cities and states. Now,he has earned loyal fans who will never trade him for anyone else because his artistry has captured the hearts and minds of thousands… eclipsing his former image as an actor.

Peter Chains and Athuja
In all my blog posts Peter Chains doesn’t need an introduction. He is a guy whose voice I praised in its emotional depth and beauty. Is it possible for a man to have a beautiful voice and be known for it? Yes. I would cite singers like the late Jim Morrison and Brendan Perry of Dead Can as the closest example. It is great to see him trying his voice on different styles. He is primarily a singer/songwriter but being with Athuja has proven that he can also do Jazz.

For now the band is creating new materials and jamming as they get ready for some serious live performance. I envision an album or EP next year. So far they have uploaded three tracks via their Facebook band page. Please remember that these are not studio quality recordings but they will give you an idea about the direction that the band is moving to.

If you like prog rock and jazz then I am sure you will follow Athuja. If not then I’d recommend you just follow them because it is not too late to reinvent your musical tastes!

Alex Pardini-Beautiful

Beautiful is a new single from European pop artist Alex Pardini. I love sophisticated house and chill-out music. That is why I am always enthusiastic with his every release because I am aware with the amount of effort that he puts in his craft. He is also a good acoustic and electric guitar player and you can hear his rifts now and then.

This is simply beautiful!

Afterthem: Electro Grunge Funk

Artist: Afterthem

Album: Electro Grunge Funk

Personnel: Dave George

Location: East Brunswick, New Jersey, USA

Style: Experimental R&B

Ever wondered if you favorite Grunge bands in the 90s ever take a dive into the electronic zone? Well, Afterthem    is your answer. Afterthem    is the brain child of  Dave George who is based in East Brunswick, New Jersey, USA. Now for those who are acquainted with this kind of combination, you may explore the musical merits in terms of songwriting and production. For those new to this kind of mix, you have to let the dust settle and then go ahead and take a closer look/listen.

Musical purism and elitism always exist and it is sad when people start to take sides and then dismiss those that don’t belong to ‘this side.’ Dave George did a great job of re- aligning our brains and explore what we don’t normally hear. Now, this isn’t just an Electro/Grunge mashup. Electro Grunge Funk also explores music associated with Blues, Jazz and Funk. The vocals even remind me a bit of 50s funk papa Howlin’ Wolf.

Standout tracks off Electro Grunge Funk are: Nonchalant, Starlight Scope, Outside In and Deal. In between downbeats, syncopation and aggressive sounds characterized by Grunge, this is an album that highlights a kind of fusion seldom found in today’s music. So have  a listen, absorb and then enjoy Electro Grunge Funk!

TWIST TO BREAK SEAL from Mumbai India is breaking into  Funky Rock Sounds.

What the funk is going on? Ah the wonders of portable video recorders. The world has become small that we are actually being transported to another person’s living room. In this case the ejection happened after watching Alien and checking this new band called TWIST TO BREAK SEAL. And yes I mean that with caps. They hail from Mumbai India, a country with music known for its distinctive scales. However, you will have a totally different musical experience with TWIST TO BREAK SEAL. The band creates one of the most funkiest rock music around. Just my first listen to Mannequin Frozen in Time convinced me  of the band’s musical maturity. Yes they are ready for bigger things.

Are you listening there fellow reviewers? Wanna help me propagate the music of this TWIST TO BREAK SEAL to unforeseen heights? All you have to do is check out the videos off their youtube channel. You can subscribe, like the videos if you find something that you fancy and then say hi to them. The band’s guitarist Pratyush also known as The Pratman would be happy to respond.

I told you these videos are all taken using an ordinary recorder. But you can tell that the music is really getting through. Wait until you get an EP from them. Even Kula Shaker will turn their heads!

The Lotus Bliss

Lotus are a band playing tracks of jamtronic bliss. Glitches of post punk, 70’s funk and electronica are mixed into the project making the tracks danceable but at times just something to sway your head on. The guitars are crunchy, moaning one moment ;teasing the next . This changes your perception of electronic bands.

There is something about the music that gets to me. Maybe it reminds me of bistros or bars with cozy atmosphere and beautiful lights. Or maybe it just reminds me of the genres of music I listened to growing up. Whatever it is, the band will have something for everyone. Even if you are not an electronic music fan, the guitars will draw you in. Totally amazing.

If you feel awful, listen to Lotus. It will sure kick your week the positive way.
