James Bullard has a Soundcloud Page.

The bluesy melodic rock guy  James Bullard from Austin, Texas has an official soundcloud page. I fondly remember the Myspace days when it James Bullardwas easy to listen to your favorite musicians as you have the option to put their page on your ‘top friends’ section. Now, myspace has a very uncertain future. But soundcloud is thriving and because of mobile apps available for Android, Mac or Windows phones keeping track of new recordings is easy. I hope they make improvements with mixcloud as this is another amazing site to upload your music and your dj mix if you have an online radio show.
If you haven’t read my interview with this amazing artist then try to read it here: https://spheremusic.me/2013/02/10/james-bullard-here-and-nowinterview/

be updated with his new post by following his soundcloud page.

hooyoosay  is a remarkable  band making happy tunes. The only thing that bothers me is that I could not find the country of origin from this awesome project. At first listen the tracks sound like jingles with electronica meets country kind of style, but then again it doesn’t sound so. It is hard to categorize their music, but they surely make catchy tunes rooted in the beauty of pop music.

My role of the thumb in listening to albums is just to listen. No need to analyze but just enjoy the music for music’s sake. This seems to be the principle behind the album Don’t you lie to me. But like I said who knows? The title track is catchy with hints of chanson, vintage and  vaudeville pop . ” There’s two kinds of people I can’t stand, and that’s a lying woman and a sneaking man, so don’t you lie to me.”…The chorus is easy to singalong and the instrumental arrangement is excellent.

Another notable track in this release is the instrumental Yooplaaa. Um..again this is hard to categorize but it is beautiful. I love the mixing of the bass and drums because they really sound full. The overall sound design in slick, clean and glossy. Oh did I already mention slick? No need to argue. Just grab the album.

Bio:

hooyoosay is a weird recording project that attaches no importance to answering the questions who, when or where.
Contributors are loose and constantly changing.
This quirky collective has released the album “in dekay”, containing 22 tracks of guitar-pop, classic rock, blues, rhythm and blues, acoustic pop and rock ‘n’ roll remakes.
Then the single “My obsession” followed.
And now there is the EP “Don’t you lie to me” / “Yooplaaa!”, which is totally different from any previous release, offering a couple of entertaining fun tracks for that moment when you can put serious matters aside.
There’s no ambition here to be the hottest or the heaviest, but simply to establish that carefree feelgood atmosphere that lets you relax.

Off Your Armour:The Cool Smooth Sound of Haiku

Haiku

Artist Name: Haiku     Album: Off Your Armour
First/Last Name: Bernard Bulhack
Email address: bj2203@bellsouth.net
Hometown: Hollywood, FL, USA
Website: http://www.reverbnation.com/bernardbulhack
Style of music: Rock/Jazz/Blues

Waiting for high powered melodies in the cloak of smooth jazz and pop rock? You will love! love!love! Haiku . The album is called : Off Your Armour. The silky female vocals glide easily with strong hooks and captivating beats. Such in the case of Take me Home. The track starts with an easy sauntering pace only to climax into an elegant refrain embellished with energetic drums.

The track Walls is truly uplifting. Thanks to the stellar guitar performance of Bernard Bulhack. There are other tracks worth savoring like Grant Me This and Turn Off The Lights. I tell you, there’s no dull moment with Haiku. Everything turns to a bright corner, with the sunny , easy feeling amidst the delicious beats.

Fans of No Doubt and The Cardigans will embrace this music. There is something  eclectic and  Asian about Haiku. Well, as you noticed, the band’s title is based on a Japanese art of writing. How did they come up with this name? The bio will tell you more:

“On a quest to hear, All of life’s sweet melodies, Merged into one. Welcome, this is Haiku” Interestingly enough, the Group Haiku owes its formulation to the mutual study of Torishimaru Aiki-Jutsu a Japanese spiritual path of meditation and martial arts in which Ivan, Bernie and Shannon were all students. The three formed the band Haiku almost eight years ago playing music around South Florida. Throughout that entire time of intense development, Shannon was continually writing and compiling a heavy list of original material. The development of Haiku’s sound was created by mixing together each of the members diverse influences and backgrounds including rock, jazz, blues, alternative and roots music. With constant growth and exploration, Haiku continually works on creating and refining a sound that is uniquely their own. A HAIKU is a poetic form of expression in which the author shares the experience of a single moment or inspiration utilizing a structured form of three lines consisting of 5 syllables then 7 syllables then 5 syllables. And that is what they are expressive, poetic, prolific, organic, and improvisational in the moment all within the structure of musical form and composition HAIKU! ……..

Like I said I love everything that I heard and I am sure you would agree when you get your ears all over this wonderful group.

Music Mix for Hot Ears

New music: Kagero, Nouvelle electro and Julien Bayle

Kagero

Kagero

Kagero

Good day to Sphere Musicista! This is another week of exciting music. I know I should have made this introduction this Monday but late is better than never. Don’t worry. I will make it a habit from now on. Just think of me as DJ Bax talking to you from the wonderful sunny Asia. Though it is written but hey this is how I talk in person. So how are you doing out there in your snowy lands? I am sure doing the usual BRRRRRR inside your warm blankets. So what do we have here today? I have a band based in New York fronted by a Japanese singer with an English accent. And they play a combination of gypsy, alternative rock and Japanese music. Sounds interesting huh? Well wait until you head their tracks via soundcloud which I am posting now. Enjoy!

So did you enjoy the tracks folks? Smooth eh? I like the percussion and horn section. That lead singer does have Japanese and English in his way of singing. Here is a brief info I gather from their press release. In case you don’t want to go through the details in their soundcoud:

Kagero is a Japanese Gypsy band out of Brooklyn, NY . . . think Gogol Bordello meets David Bowie. Upbeat, folky pop songs with world music flavors, sung by a Japanese man with a British accent.  I am submitting our songs for consideration for your This Week’s Featured Artist column. Here is our own fast-loading EPK, featuring “Life’s A Thrill”, plus 4 other from the new album, Gumbo du Jour.

More reviews:

Kagero’s sound is a melting pot of tonalities and rhythms from Asia, the Middle East, South America and Eastern Europe — “Cultural Confusion”. Sometimes the songs are beautiful imagery, sometimes sad folk tales, and sometimes silly songs about drinking. But the tunes are always fun, and the show is high energy dancing good time. “Kagero’s world music goulash is very tasty — even if you don’t always know what’s you’re eating.”

“Rooted in uplifting elements from eclectic origins, “Japanese Gypsy Rock” unites Kagero’s musical influences and talents into a cross-culture dance party.”

Nice eh?

Nouvelle electro

page

The first time I heard The Taste of Sweet Salvation I was paralyzed. The song is really well made and groovy, you can bet your Kraftwerk and Chicane on it. “Taste of Sweet Salvation”already appeared inwww.radio-happy.com hosted by  DJ Flip Martian on his radio show at 8pm – 10pm UK time. Their peers in the electro scene like People Theater, Cosmo Simnovec and Loic Rathscheck all gave positive responses to this first track off their  debut album which they are yet to release. If you love melodic electro with irresistible beats and interesting lyrics then Nouvelle electro is your perfect companion.

Julien Bayle

JulienBayle04

Julien Bayle

Julien Bayle is a French digital artist doing both the visual and musical. I discovered him via Google+ communities for electronic musicians. He has this kind of serenity that is blanketed by complex beats and sounds that could have come from different sources. Listening to him is like looking at a portrait mainly in white where the edges are blurred and only the center is focused. It is a sound that is not intrusive but it is fascinating. His music gives you that different kind of feeling. I can’t find it anywhere in electronic music and I can’t describe it either.

Inspiring Monday with Violin and Ambient

Hello readers of the page. My head is still reeling from the great interview I did with punk rocker Sacha Talens. If you haven’t read it yet, check out the previous edition and I am sure you will really get something from what he said about making your own album. This doesn’t just apply to punk music, what he says applies to all musicians who want to make it on their own. So have a read.

I just discovered this amazing violinist by the name of Thomas McGregor. He does eon classical music and he is from Kansas. This chap is really bringing something cool to the music scene with his attitude and well…melodic structure 🙂 Great tunes that you might want to check out. This one tune I am posting is called Ode to Farmer. It is amazing the things he can do with just one instrument. No words can describe the music. Better have a listen.

Greek with nature ambient by Vasilis Chountas

More music are available on:

Project : Whodoes -(Experimental looped guitar)
Album : Dolphins in the sky
Music Composed by Vasilis Chountas
Produced by Konstantinos Yiotas
Mastering : Pashalis Kolentsis
Motion Graphics : Konstantinos Kefalianos

Interesting sampler here. I was surprised when that guy was making this weird movements on the promo video like a hologram from Star Trek. But I think this music  is interesting for those who like ambient with dolphin sounds.  Whodoes is a project of Greek composer Vasilis Chountas. If you haven’t  done yet, do check out his myspace page. Really spacey  and even ethnic Greek stuff for those who want their breakfast completed in peaceful delights(with a smile). His tracks range from just calm tracks with shy notes to groovy numbers with swirling drum kits, electronic bubbles and loops. And yeah the dolphin sounds are awesome.
